Hello all you Correlationers!

2020 sure has kicked a lot of knuckle balls at us (putting it lightly). One event that almost occurred that would have sent shock waves across the sports world was that Lionel Messi almost parted ways with Barcelona. It was a truly sad couple weeks thinking about what has become of Barcelona that their greatest player of their 120 year old history wants to leave. After his announcement that he will remain with the club, we listened to a compilation of the great announcer Ray Hudson lift our spirits with commentary on Messi like "Sweeter than a mother's kiss at bedtime!" or "You could drop a tarantula into his shorts and he'll still be cool!" or "Centipedes fantasize about having one left leg as good as his!" or our favorite "This man is absolutely mainline to pure footballing magic that belongs in a different galaxy altogether!". Even though Messi is staying around for now it got us wondering, what would happen if he no longer played for Barcelona? What ripple effect consequences would the world face? Well wonder no more! That's right! The number of minutes Messi has played for Barcelona and the number of Geosynchronous Earth Orbit Satellites in orbit by launch date are 91% correlated from 2004 to 2019. Ray Hudson knew Messi was connected to space saying that "We're watching an alien play this game of ours. The likes of which we've never seen before".
