Hello all you Correlationers!
This site has been great to us but we're moving to another platform. We hope you'll join us at https://www.patreon.com/c/CoincidentalCorrelations
September is coming to an end and the autumn leaves are ushering in some cooler weather (finally). Sure we wanted the summer to last forever but as the last couple editions have indicated, it was always about the adventures and not the blazing heat. So this week we turn to transitions and what larger transition is there for people than the day you commit to your partner 'until death do us part'. Unfortunately a lot of people aren't able to keep that vow but this isn't about them so strap in!
As we do most weeks, we get interested in a topic and then go down many rabbit holes trying to understand as much as possible about the human condition. Love is a mystery to most and putting it into words is best left to the likes of Jane Austen in our opinion. Unfortunately there's only so much Jane Austen content in the world so our current inspiration is coming from David and Megan Roche who are the absolute definition of relationship goals. David just set another course record at the Leadville 100 mile ultramarathon and you can relive the glory and awe in the connection that David and Megan share in their beautiful documentary (LINK). Another poet of this day in age is Ray Hudson with how he's able to passionately describe the beautiful game people call Football (the Soccer variety). Many say the Roches and Hudson are the Austen of our time and who are we to disagree!
But how does this Colorado power couple and the love of Football have in common? That's right! The age of the Ballon d'Or winner and the marriage rate in Colorado is 90% correlated from 2013 - 2023! Now there was no Ballon d'Or winner in 2020 due to Covid but if there was, they must have been a young up and comer. And unfortunately the marriage rates data only go up to 2023 so we can only imagine that with Rodri and Dembélé winning the last two years that it has plummeted.
