"I hate knowing everything"

Hello all you Correlationers!

The winter solstice is coming up on Dec 21st where you’ll also be able to see Jupiter and Saturn form The Great Conjunction of 2020 as they will appear next to each other in the night sky. We’ve always been a fan of astronomy as it’s nice to gaze at meteor showers or get lost in the stars. Derek Muller of Veritasium did a video recently about how much we still don’t know about meteors (give it a watch if you have some time here). In summary, he talks about how the movie Armageddon is wishful thinking and we really can’t do much about the possibility of a meteor hitting earth. To not bum you out too much we figured we’d step in to try to lend a helping hand to these scientists with a handy correlation! That’s right! The number of meteors observed and the availability of fresh Sweet Corn per capita is 79% correlated from 2007-2016. So if we can just convince farmers to stop making sweet corn we could at least live in sweet ignorance.

This year has been a tough one so we worked to put together a light show for the holidays to try to provide some joy to whoever wants to view. So if you’re in need of a break to watch lights flash to music and in the Atlanta area, please stop by 3331 Bolero Dr and tune to 90.9 FM! Lights start around 6pm daily. Please let us know if you have any song requests!
