Hello all you correlationers!
Welcome new correlationers to a proud club of counterfeit correlations, bringing you hot correlations straight off the press!
I’m sure everyone is glad to have some warm weather roll around even if that means getting used to the heavy amounts of pollen floating in your lungs. As the weather breaks for spring, the Major League Baseball season begins to fill our days for the next six months with over 2,400 games of non-stop sports ball. Now no matter what team you support, or even if you don’t care for America’s favorite pastime, the summer is a time for family, food, and fun! Unfortunately, another (more destructive) season kicks into gear starting in April and that brings us to our correlation this week. From 2007 to 2017 the attendance of the MLB All Star Game and the total number of F-0 tornadoes in the US are 76% correlated. Now F-0 tornadoes are the smallest tornadoes classified with winds between 40 and 72 mph so at least it’s good that it’s not correlated with F-4 & F-5 tornadoes with 207+ mph winds! We believe since most baseball games are largely uneventful except for a couple moments of action this makes sense that the fans would cause smaller, uneventful tornadoes. It just can’t be a coincidence that tornado season largely ends in July and that’s when the All Star Game takes place!
