Props to Mahomes

Hello all you Correlationers!

Prop bets! Prop bets! Come and get them while they’re hot! It’s that time of year again where it’s more fun to go in on some obscure prop bet than it is to actually care about who will win the Super Bowl. You know by now that we like to collect some hot and juicy stats to give you some super helpful insights into how you might want to place those bets*. And it’s a great week because it’s a double decker correlation week!

First up, the Super Bowl seems to be the only thing still hanging onto Roman Numerals, and it’s for a good reason! It turns out the length of the Roman Numeral representation of the year and how many Field Goals will be scored during the Super Bowl is 67% correlated from 2011 to 2020. Year 2021 is MMXXI, Which is a length of 5 so we’re expecting about 4 Field Goals on Sunday.

Another interesting factoid is that there’s between 1 and 3 Friday the 13ths in a calendar year. Don’t get me wrong, that’ll create all of 5 seconds of small talk at a party (whenever those happen again) which can help you get out of a sticky situation but we’re better than that! Blow your virtual Super Bowl party away that how many Friday the 13ths there are in a year and how long it takes for a team to score a Field Goal in the Super Bowl is 75% correlated from 2013 to 2020. There’s only going to be one Friday the 13th this year (in August) so we think there’ll be a Field Goal scored in the first quarter, maybe within the first eight minutes of the game.

* We don’t recommend anyone actually place monetary bets using this information.
