Protein for the Queen

Hello all you Correlationers!

Even though we haven’t finished it yet, we’ve been loving the Netflix series “The Queen’s Gambit”. If you haven’t gotten into it yet, it follows the life of Beth Harmon who is an orphan chess prodigy as she takes on the world! As kids, we were convinced that listening to Beethoven while playing chess would make us unbeatable. Unfortunately, Beethoven doesn’t seem to have the same effect of the tranquillizing pills Harmon takes in the series. This got us wondering though, what helps make a good chess player? The current top rated chess player is Magnus Carlsen from Norway who has been the top rated player since mid 2011. He’s also achieved the highest FIDE rating ever recorded and turns 30 later this month. By now you should know that Magnus being from Norway and being the best chess player is no coincidence as that brings us to our correlation this week! That’s right! The FIDE rating of the number 1 chess player in the world and Norway’s Protein Supply is 87% correlated from 2008-2017! We don’t have data for the last couple years from Norway’s Protein supply but we can only guess it’s gone up!

Please subscribe for notifications when new volumes are posted! If you have a suggestion or feedback, we’d love to hear it! As always, if you know anyone else that would like to be a new correlationer, please let us know!
