Space vs Sociology

Updated: Feb 15, 2019

Hello you Courageous Correlation loving Customer Community!

We start off this week with important info about the last volume of Correlation of the Week. We failed to mention the roundabout way we came across this relationship. While discussing the 1994 blockbuster hit “Blank Check” where Preston Waters lucks into a blank check for One Million Dollars, we were skeptical that he could have purchased a as much as he did in the movie. The house that “Mr. Macintosh” buys is actually in Austin Texas where we argued that in ’94 it was cheaper to live in Austin because it was before the population grew to what it is today. The Zestimate of the house in Austin is valued at $3.3 Million today.

On to the new relationship of the week!

It turns out that the number of Worldwide Non-commercial Space Launches and US Sociology Doctorates awarded are 79% correlated from 1997 to 2009. Who knew we kept sending Sociology Doctors up into space so we had to keep getting more of them? I just hope they find alien life forms up there so at least they can apply their degree. The last thing we need are these people going into debt and not even use their degree!
